Mangla Gauri Temple

The Mangla Gauri Temple, located in Gaya, Bihar, is a revered Hindu shrine and one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peeths. It is dedicated to the goddess Sati, worshipped here in the form of a breast, which is a symbol of nourishment. The temple sits atop the Manglagauri hill, part of the rocky hills of Gaya. According to legend, these hills were formed from the demon Gayasur after he was crushed by Lord Vishnu. The deities chose to sit atop the demon's body, which is why numerous temples can be found on the surrounding hills.

Mangla Gauri

Sita Kund

Sita Kund in Gaya, India, is associated with the Ramayana and the Hindu practice of pind-daan rituals for the deceased. Legend states Sita performed the pind-daan for her father-in-law, King Dasharatha, when Lord Rama and Lakshman were delayed, using sand from the Falgu river. She later cursed the river, a cow, a Tulsi plant, and the Ketaki flower for falsely witnessing the ritual, while blessing the Akshay Vat (Banyan tree).
